The Gift of Public Service
"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you." John Wooden
The Current issue of the Michigan Sheriffs' Association Sheriff's Star, recognizes the many people who, on a daily basis, are making a difference in their community. These people work with their local Sheriff's Office, and are a volunteer member of the Victim Service Team.
The Victim Service Team is a group of volunteers dedicated to helping victims survive a crisis or crime against them. They are the helping hands of the police, fire, and medical personnel - freeing the departments to do their jobs without leaving the victim during their time of need.
The Victim Service Unit is designed to:
1. Comfort and help victims
2. Make referrals to appropriate agencies and services according to needs.
3. Serve as a go-between for victims, their families, scene officials and emergency service providers.
As we recognize those who have given of their time in their own communities, we also express the growing need for more volunteers state-wide. To receive more information regarding opportunities with a local Victim Service Team near you, please submit the attached form below.
