CORRECTIONS CAPTAIN QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must have a minimum of seven years in the
Corrections profession with progressive supervision and administrative
Certification as a Local Michigan Corrections Officer through the Michigan
Sheriff’s Corrections Training Council or obtains certification within one year
Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice or related field with a Master’s Degree
Completion of the Northwest Police Staff and Command or equivalent is preferred
or completion within one year of employment.
Completion of American Jail Association (AJA) Jail Manager Certification is
preferred. The candidate must have extensive experience in public service
budgeting, corrections policy and presentation skills to elected officials and
other public audiences.
